What is Black Diamond?
Black Diamond is a wealth platform that has dashboards, does reconciliation, has CRM capabilities and various integrations to help manage your accounts. It is similar to Orion.
What is the Purpose of this Article?
Since Black Diamond and Orion are competing platforms, information will not feed directly between the two systems. We can remedy this indirectly by running queries in Orion and then sending the exports to Black Diamond for import.
Which Orion queries are needed?
If you are already familiar with running queries in Orion, these are the two that you will need:
Query ID: 28180 - ATP BD Asset Base - this shows a point in time valuation by each position in the account.
Query ID: 22890 - Activity Summary Comparison Rep Query - this shows amounts broken down for the relevant period by amount of contributions, distributions, transfers, and management fees, as well as beginning and ending market values.
How Do I Run a Query?
1) Once logged into Orion, open the Query app.
2) On the right side of the screen select All Queries
3) In the query grid, type "Black Diamond" under the Description field to narrow down the list of queries. You'll be left with the two reports needed, Query ID 22890 and 28180.
4) Double click on one of the reports and you'll be greeted with a pop-up prompt. Here you can set the date range, a specific client or rep code, and in what format the results should be displayed. Make your selections then click Run.
5) If you selected Direct Download you should see the spreadsheet file in your Downloads folder on your computer. If you selected Screen, the query information should appear on your screen. You can still export this information to a file by clicking the Action link near the top right and selecting Export to Excel.
6) You can repeat this process with the second report. Once you have both reports you should be able to import them into Black Diamond.
Can I Schedule These Queries to Run Automatically?
Yes, you can. Start by locating the query you wish to schedule, the right click on it. From the menu, select Schedule Query.
In the pop-up select New Schedule.
The Query Scheduler screen will present you with all your options in scheduling the report, from whether it is Daily, Weekly, or Monthly to what format the report should be displayed as or for how long the scheduler should run the report for (ie. January 2024 to February 2025). Select your options as you see fit, then click on the green Schedule button.
